Old surveyor here trying to figure out how drones fit into boundary work. I understand they're not replacing monuments and legal descriptions, but there's got to be value somewhere.
How are you guys using drone data in boundary surveys? Topo for the plat? Locating improvements? Or is it purely marketing to show clients you're modern?

Sign inI use drone data for recon before I even go to the field. Fly the property, identify potential monument locations, spot encroachments. Shows up prepared instead of wandering around.
Clients also love the ortho overlay on their plat. Worth the extra effort.
Biggest value is locating improvements and topographic context for the plat. Fence lines, buildings, driveways - all visible in the ortho. Saves tons of field time versus shooting everything with total station.
Monuments and property corners still get traditional treatment.
